RIDERS ON INTIAL ENROLLMENT OF SMALL GROUPS
ENROLLMENT OF SMALL GROUPS INSURANCE AND RIDERS
Some surplus lines carriers are putting “riders” on medical conditions of members in the group at its initial enrollment. They are doing this to limit their risks. However, they are not putting riders on new enrollees after the group is established. When contracting for group insurance, always make sure that new enrollees in the group will automatically be covered without underwriting and without riders. One of the great advantages of group insurance is that new enrollees will be able to get coverage for all of their pre-existing conditions.
