PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS COVERED ON GLOBAL GROUP PLANS
PRE-EXISTING CONDITION COVERAGE FOR NEW ENROLLEES
One of the great advantages of group insurance is that after the plan is effective, pre-existing conditions on new enrollees are covered immediately. This is not true of individual insurance. Individuals can be declined, or pre-existing conditions can be “ridered.” So if you have group insurance and an individual with diabetes applies to work with your group, the individual will be covered with no pre-existing limitations. Of course, this is conditional on submitting a valid COI at the time of their enrollment or as soon as possible thereafter. If he cannot do so then he must be on the group plan 12 months before pre-existing conditions are covered
