GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR HOME BASE STAFF
HOME BASE STAFF ON INTERNATIONAL GROUP PLANS
Some international plans will not allow you to have any US staff on their international plans. Other companies allow 20% of the insured to be members of the home base staff but charge those residing in the USA, USA rates, which are close to double international rates. Another company permits 20% of those insured to reside in the USA but only asks that they pay overseas rates. If you go with a plan like this, including USA staff will cause the rates to go up for the whole group and thus the overseas staff will be paying more. Also keep in mind that you can not just pick one or two members of the home base staff for coverage. If you decide to cover home base staff, all home base staff must have the option of enrolling and the number of home base staff enrolling must not be more than 20% of the total enrollees in the group.
