The Best Time for Health Insurance is When You Are Healthy

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO GET HEALTH INSURANCE?

That sounds like a weird question. Is it better to get it in the Spring or Fall or on Monday? No, that’s not the point. The best time to get health insurance is when you are healthy. We are a brokerage, and get hundreds of calls every year asking for insurance. Often their great motivating factors: I am pregnant. I have an ulcer. I need to go to the doctor. I can’t pay for my prescription medication. The worst time to try to get insurance is when you are sick or need to see the doctor. Sometimes a person will say, “I just don’t know what is wrong with me.” That is worse than having an ulcer, and it will be a certain decline on an insurance application. Insurance companies want to always know what the health problem is, i.e., what they are insuring.

The best time to get insurance is when you are healthy. Usually young men don’t think that they need insurance. They will say, “I never get sick.” If youare certain one hundred percent that you will never get sick, then you don’t need health insurance. But who knows that. Someone will say, “I am 52 andhave never been sick and have never had insurance.” You have been very fortunate. However, you may get sick tomorrow. And the odds of you havingmajor medical problems increase with age; and over the age of 50 the odds increase dramatically.

If you are now healthy, this is the best time for you to get insurance. If you develop a medical condition, it is going to be very difficult to get insurance or
good insurance with a pre-existing medical condition.

Health Insurance in the USA

"Jeff, I just wanted to say a quick "Thank You" for the newsletter, or "Quarterly E-Bulletin." I don’t know if this is all your work or a team, or you buy content, or just who puts it together; but I’ve gotta say it’s one of the few pieces of its kind that I actually *read* top-to-bottom. [The "Quarterly Bulletin" is written by Jeff, assisted by the GNI staff.]"

"Nelma, Thank you so much for your immediate help in getting my credit from the insurance company. It’s this kind of service from you and your partners that keeps me coming back to GNI for ALL my international insurance needs. "

(KD, California)

"Trish, Thanks so much for your follow-up on this. We actually got a check in the mail already, covering all the charges minus the $250 deductible. I was surprised and pleased that we got it so quickly! Thank you again for taking care of us. You have been extremely helpful, Trish."

"Doug, I wish to thank Pei for the first class service I received. I value great customer service having worked for a Japanese airline for 17 years. I believe the service reflects the management."
