LOWER AVERAGE AGE MEANS LOWER GROUP RATES
HOW TO KEEP YOUR GROUP HEALTH QUOTES LOWER
Insurance companies base their quotes on the average age of the employees. If you are getting a new group quote it is best to exclude those on Medicare from coverage. This will have a definite effect on any new quotes that you receive.
What to do re those employees on Medicare? We suggest that they take out two policies. The first one would be a two or three year policy with maximum coverage of $50,000 that includes medical evacuation. Thus they would have enough money for emergency coverage on the field and would be able to be medi-evaced back to the USA if their situation was critical. Then we suggest that they also take out a “Medicare Supplement” plan. This plan will cover everything that Medicare fails to cover. The cost of the medical evacuation plan along with the “Medicare Supplement” plan will generally be much less than they are paying on a group plan. But what is more important, since they will not be listed on the group insurance census the average age of the group will be lower and the group rates will be better.
