Good Neighbor Insurance provides both group and individual health care coverage in Arizona, as well as travel insurance for those vacationing overseas and for expats residing overseas.
We are happy to be able to share the following important information for our clients who currently have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona individual coverage.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) PPO Alliance and/or Select customers recently received a plan discontinuation notice. The customer’s discontinuation notice explained that beginning January 1st, 2015, BCBSAZ will no longer be offering the Alliance and Select exclusive network PPO plans. It also noted that if no action was taken on or before the member’s January 1st, 2015 renewal date, the member would be mapped to a similar Statewide PPO network.
Member’s Current Plan: On 1/1/2015 member will be mapped to:
EverydayHealth $1,000 Alliance PPO EverydayHealth $1,000 Statewide PPO
Customers looking for a lower cost premium plan option and who are happy with their Alliance or Select choice of providers may want to consider an Alliance or Select HMO plan. The Alliance and Select HMO plan options use the same network as the current PPO Alliance and Select plans and cost less than the Statewide PPO.
NOTE: A new Alliance or Select HMO plan will not cover services from providers outside of the network except for emergencies. For these plans, the customer must use an in-network doctor or hospital to have access to coverage for most services.
If you have a subsidized, On Exchange customer who resides in Maricopa County and who would like to move to an Alliance or Select HMO plan, please have them go through the subsidy redetermination process. They will be able to choose their new Alliance or Select HMO plan through the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) beginning on November 15th, 2014.
Our newest exclusive network, “Secure,” becomes effective January 1, 2015, with contracted providers in Pima County. The Secure network consists mainly of providers in the Carondelet Health Network (CHN) and those who refer to the CHN hospitals. The Tucson hospitals included in this exclusive network are:
- St. Mary’s Hospital (including Carondelet Heart & Vascular Institute)
- St. Joseph’s Hospital (including Carondelet Neurological Institute)
Exclusive networks may help lower cost share for our members by offering coordinated care within a smaller, more localized provider network. These innovative offerings reflect our ongoing commitment to providing the best health insurance value to Arizonans.
