We are happy to be able to share the following important information for our Arizona clients who currently have individual coverage with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona.
Medicare Part D Creditability of Prescription Drug Coverage
As they do each year, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) will provides our clients with information about the Medicare Part D creditability of prescription drug coverage included in benefit plans they issue and administer:
- Medicare Supplement Plans and Plans for Individuals and Families — BCBSAZ will send a notice of either creditable coverage or non-creditable coverage directly to contract holders no later than October 15. Please contact your Individual Account Executives with any questions you have about Medicare Part D creditability of BCBSAZ prescription drug coverage.
- Plans for Employer Groups of 2-99 Employees — BCBSAZ has posted a memo in the broker and employer portals. This memo identifies the creditable and non-creditable plans for employer groups of 2-99 employees and can be seen here:
Please contact a group’s account manager with any questions you have about Medicare Part D creditability of BCBSAZ prescription drug coverage. The broker and employer portals also include CMS guidance on this issue, as well as model notices from the CMS web site.
- Plans for Employer Groups of 100+ Employees — BCBSAZ’s account managers have contacted employer groups, as well as their affiliated brokers, if their plans are not creditable (assuming BCBSAZ administers a group’s prescription drug coverage). Please contact your BCBSAZ account manager with any questions regarding Medicare D creditability.
