Beacon International Health and Travel Insurance

March 7, 2016 By : Administrator

Beacon International health and travel insurance is a short term policy with medical and travel benefits. A great plan for many types of travelers! Many of our guests who secure this as their international coverage are individuals and families on vacation, and volunteers with NGOs, Non Profits, humanitarian, and faith based organizations. Many are from Canada, as this plan’s coverage is suitable for many residents of Canada. This plan has actually proved to be great vacation health insurance overseas as well as missionary insurance. All of the companies we work with we trust to protect our clients. The company that provides the Beacon coverage has also been amazing in helping our clients!

General benefits: The coverage on this plan, the Beacon International, varies with choices of Deductibles, from $0 to $2,500, and choices of Maximum Limits from $60,000 to $2,000,000. One unique thing about this is that medical evacuation is included with the medical expense coverage under the Maximum Limit. This means that if you have $110,000 Maximum Limit and have a medical evacuation that costs $50,000 and a hospital bill that costs $50,000, you will only have $10,000 left on the policy (if you have a $0 Deductible). The plan comes in two forms: one type covers travel inside the U.S. and Canada, and the other is for coverage outside of the U.S. and Canada. With this in mind, please note that the plan does not cover inside one’s home country, except if there is Quick Trip Home Country Coverage on the policy. Home country is defined as one’s place of permanent residence. Coverage can begin as soon as you are outside of your home country, and coverage will end upon arrival to your home country.

International Medical Evacuation insurance is very important for international travelers. The potential of needing a medical evacuation varies on the situation. A Medical Evacuation will occur when there is medical necessity that cannot be treated locally. If a medical evacuation is needed, one must contact the insurance company who will approve, arrange, and pay for the medical evacuation. The company will work with medical personnel on the ground as well as a member, or relative of the member, and the member will be taken to the nearest adequate medical facility for appropriate care. There must be an agreement by the member (or relative), but the company will not elect to take the member back to their home country if that is not the best option.

Also included in the evacuation insurance is Political Evacuation! This benefit is covered up to $10,000, and you must have already arrived in the destination country prior to the U.S. issuing a travel warning. On the same track of political unrest, there is up to $50,000 for Terrorism coverage. This benefit is not available if there has been a U.S. state travel warning in effect within 180 days from your arrival at the destination country. Accidental Death and Dismemberment is included for an individual or for a family. If it is a family, the primary insured person has up to $30,000 of coverage, the spouse has $20,000, and there is $6,000 for dependents, for Accidental Death. This plan does not cover pre-existing conditions, except for a potential minimum for a Sudden On-set of Pre-existing Condition(s). A pre-existing condition is any medical condition that was treated or diagnosed in the past, as well as prior to the effective date of coverage. We have other stronger pre-existing conditions options if needed. There is also Return of Mortal Remains coverage, which has a maximum benefit amount of $50,000.

Unique features: On this plan are unique features, such as the aforementioned combined evacuation and medical expenses. One of the others is free Home Country Coverage. If you secure at least 180 days, you have up to 15 days free of coverage inside your home country; this is doubled for a year of coverage. Another of these is the Trip Delay benefit. This is for coverage in case there is a travel delay or missed connection which is 12 hours or more as long as the reasons for delay are written to be covered in the policy. You will be reimbursed up to $100. There is also Personal / Third Party Liability up to $500.

You may also add a sports rider to coverage. This will provide up to $10,000 of coverage. The sports exclusion clause will be replaced with solely this exclusion of any professional sports or athletic activities.

As you can see, the Beacon International health and travel insurance is broad health insurance overseas. It is a simple plan that you, or your family and friends, can sign up for directly online. The quote process is very easy. You must input your travel dates, date of birth, and if you want or do not want coverage in Canada and the U.S. and your quotes will show up. You can even save quotes and application in case you get interrupted. The application online takes about ten minutes and you will be sent the documents electronically to your email. (Please be sure to check junk or spam, as sometime emails will end up there) It is a simple process for simple international medical coverage!
