Liaison International travel health insurance is one of our most popular plans for furloughs, and it works great for mostly any type of international travel! This is an international health and travel insurance policy that is designed to protect your finances by covering medical expenses and even travel expenses in some cases. The Liaison International travel health insurance will cover someone outside of their home country (place of permanent residence). So it makes for excellent furlough coverage! If you are a resident outside of the country you were born in or have family in, and you go to visit your family’s country, that can be considered taking a furlough. Many missionaries, international workers, and volunteers who travel back to their original country use this to protect themselves and their families. However, if someone is going to move to a country, this plan would not work for them, since their home country changes to the destination. Again, this plan will only cover outside of one’s home country. So why is this plan so good? Let me get the information for you!
This is an international health and travel insurance plan that will provide great coverage for an affordable premium. Coverage Maximum Limits can be chosen from up to $50,000 to up to $1,000,000. Likewise, Deductibles can be chosen from $0 to $2,500. The Deductible is the amount you are responsible for in medical expenses. Various types of medical expenses are hospital bills, ICU, emergency room, seeing a physician, and prescriptions from such situations. The Deductible applies to these expenses; therefore after the Deductible has been met, the plan will pay out for all eligible expenses or be subject to a Coinsurance at first. Co-insurance is a sum of expenses that you will pay a percentage of, and typically is only included if you receive medical treatment in the U.S. and Canada. The Deductible comes first, then Coinsurance if it is a part of your policy, and then the plan will pay out for all covered medical expenses.
Aside from medical expenses talked about above, the other benefits of the policy are not subject to Deductible or Coinsurance. This simply means that the plan will pay out without requiring any payment responsibility from you; they will either pay for or reimburse you completely for all covered events. This also means that the other provisions’ coverage limits are separate from the Maximum Limit for medical expenses. Some of these benefits with their coverage limits are: international Medical Evacuation insurance at $300,000, Return of Mortal Remains at $50,000, Accidental Death and Dismemberment at $25,000, Local Ambulance Expense at $5,000, Emergency Reunion $50,000, and trip interruption (Interruption of Trip) at $5,000. As you can see, these pay out according to the event and the amount of available coverage. There are other benefits included such as Terrorism coverage, Return of Minor Children, and Loss of Checked Luggage. There are a lot of benefits included in this affordable but great short term health insurance overseas, isn’t there!
Pre-existing conditions: One of the few essentially important things we always want to mention is about pre-existing conditions. A pre-existing condition is any medical condition that was diagnosed or treated in the past, as well as prior to the effective date of coverage. Generally, there is no outright coverage for pre-existing conditions on short term health insurance overseas. That is because pre-existing can often times mean that constant medical care is needed. If the insurance company were to cover pre-existing conditions, the rates would be much higher due to claims. However, because the insurance company wants to protect you while you travel, they have a benefit for unexpected emergencies related to pre-existing conditions. For U.S. citizens under age 70, who are traveling outside the U.S. and Canada, there is up to $20,000 for an Unexpected Recurrence of a Pre-existing Condition. There is also up to $15,000 for non-U.S. citizens traveling to the U.S. who are under age 70 on the Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition benefit. Please note, there are conditions to having any coverage for a pre-existing condition, so be sure to double check the policy wording and you are welcome to contact us as well!
Medical evacuation: Medical evacuation is one other essentially important area of coverage for almost every international traveler. The Medical Evacuation will take you from one medical facility to the nearest adequate medical facility in case there is no local solution for a medical necessity. If an evacuation needs to happen, you or someone with you must call the insurance company and the company will arrange and pay for the medical evacuation. After a medical evacuation, if the medical condition warrants, you can be taken back to your home country to recover.
Overall, the Liaison International travel medical insurance is a great option for not only furlough insurance, but used by people taking vacations, going on work trips, volunteering and serving overseas, and as missionary insurance by the faith based community around the world!
