They found Irish stone cottages which are now open for the public and are available to stay in during your visit. Cnoc Suain has won numerous awards for their cultural retreat.
• Connemara Heritage & History Centre
It is a hill farm six kilometers from Clifden. This idyllic farm is relaxing and tranquil, with breathtaking fresh air. It was owned by the Dan O’Hara family, who had to emigrate to New York in the 1840’s. There are guided tours with demonstrations of traditional farm activities. The center also has an audio visual presentation that tells the history of Dan O’Hara and the land.
• Sky Road
Sky Road is a popular site in Connemara. It is an 11 km circular route. Sky Road takes you to hills overlooking the entire splendid Connemara region. Along the way is Monument Hill, which is a great climbing spot. It is a perfect point to take photographs and view the town below.
• Aughnanure Castle
The Aughnanure Castle is two miles from Galway and was built in the 16th century. The castle itself consists of guard gate, a lower floor, two upper floors, and a sleeping room. There are also two courtyards outside the castle.
• Connemara National Park
The park is over 2,957 hectares of mountain ranges, including Twelve Ben, MaumTurks, Partry, and Shefftey. The most incredible site in this park is Diamond Hill, which offers stunning sites. From the top, visitors will see the ocean, islands, mountains, and Kylemore Abbey. Besides that, this park has a playground, picnic area, and an audiovisual performance of Connemara.
