The deadly ebola virus has reappeared in West Africa with more than 60 outbreak hotspots. And it’s getting worse: UPDATED July 1,2014.

According to Doctors Without Borders and other aid workers, “The scale of the current Ebola epidemic is unprecedented in terms of geographical distribution, people infected and deaths,” MSF said in a statement. The World Health Organization lists 567 cases and 350 deaths since the epidemic began in March in Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia…More here>>

Travel warning- ebola or Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF)

Patients have been discovered in 60 different locations across West Africa. According to CNN, Doctors Without Borders (also known as Médecins Sans Frontières), is the only aid organization treating people affected by the virus. Since March, they have sent more than 300 staff members and 40 tons of equipment and supplies to the region to help fight the epidemic which due to early treatment and recognition is fatal in only 60% of cases, down from 90%.

“Ebola is no longer a public health issue limited to Guinea: it is affecting the whole of West Africa.”
– Bart Janssens, Director of Operations, Doctors Without Borders (MSF)
