Good Neighbor is partnering with Feed My Starving Children to assist the women of Red Rope in the Philippines.
By purchasing products created by this amazing hand-sewing livelihood program for formerly prostituted women in the Philippines, Good Neighbor is encouraging self-reliance and making a difference by helping create jobs and sustain local industry. The unique travel wallets/checkbooks (that we are currently giving as gifts to thank clients and those who frequently refer us) are made by Red Rope using discarded, recycled Tyvek billboards to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind products to support their families. You can help as well! (Keep reading below…)
Red Rope is now a recognized co-operative in the Philippines. Started by twelve International Care Ministries (ICM) recipients, formerly from the Precious Women Ministry (for women leaving prostitution), these women were originally commissioned to hand-sew a quilt.
More than 6 years later, Red Rope has become a self-supporting livelihood for 22 women, all of whom have been participants in an ICM program. Red Rope items are sold at fairs in Hong Kong and offered for sale by NGOs at venues in the USA, such as Feed My Starving Children.
Good Neighbor Insurance is happy to be able to help support both Red Rope, and Feed My Starving Children, which sent approx. 5,000,000 meals to ICM this last year to help feed the poor in the Philippines. You can support them and purchase their handicrafts at the FMSC Marketplace (They sell a regular wallet as well). You can also volunteer to pack food for an hour and a half at various locations throughout North America which is a fun way to educate and and engage others such as your family, your scout troop, church group, neighborhood, team at work, or other social club or civic group. Purchasing products allows Feed My Starving Children to place new orders with Red Rope. Click on the blog post (image) below or go to http://fmscblog.com/from-the-field/red-rope/ for more information.

A single meal costs only 22 cents to produce, and for the ninth straight year, FMSC has received the highest 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the nation’s toughest charity watchdog.
Only 1% of the charities have received at least 9 consecutive 4-star evaluations. This ‘exceptional’ designation differentiates FMSC and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of your trust.
