Understanding Your Talent Trust Expat Insurance Benefits and Understanding your Explanation of Benefits (EOB)

Although you should have received policy (information/documents) once your Talent Trust policy became active, one of the (easiest/best/quickest) places to find information about your policy benefits is through your member portal.

At times, the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) form may be confusing to read. We also get a tad confused, even with 27 years of serving global faith-based works on their global employer medical insurance. A lot of the confusion stems from the many different abbreviations each international insurance company uses. If this occurs, feel free to reach out to Talent Trust or us here at Good Neighbor Insurance.

Using your Global U.S. and Global Medical Network, Emergency Medical Evacuation

Using your Global U.S. and Global Medical Network, Emergency Medical Evacuation

The first and best way to find your global medical network and also your U.S. medical network is to go online to your web portal at  https://www.allianzcare.com/en/myhealth-online.html.

Make sure you have your e-membership card with your policy number which starts with a “P”.  This information will be important when you connect with your pharmacy and medical providers.

GNI Team Q & A

Question: What do I do in an emergency situation?

Answer:

Step 1 – immediately get the emergency treatment you need.

Step 2 – if you are hospitalized, either you, your doctor, or one of your dependents, or a colleague needs to call your insurance 24/7 helpline within 48 hours of the emergency to inform Talent Trust of the hospitalization.

Step 3 – Your insurance company can take the treatment guarantee form (pre-certification / pre-authorization) details over the phone when you call your insurance company.  Your insurance company 24/7 helpline is +353-1907-5903 (Ireland number) or +1(877)499-4809 (U.S. toll free – free on Skype)

Questions when using U.S. networks:

Question: When asked what insurance do we have, do I answer Alz (as is on the card), Omega Plus (that I don’t see listed anywhere?), Aetna (as listed under the PPO) or Talent Trust? This medical clinic was not familiar with Alz, as is on the card.

Answer: Alz. has recommended that members tell medical providers the insurer goes through Global Excel. They use an Electronic Claims Payer ID of 65074.

Question: Is there a U.S. phone number that providers in the U.S. can contact?

Answer: Providers can contact +1 (800) 541 1983, and Global Excel can then verify everything and confirm the medical network a member has access to.

Question:  When I go to look for a provider in network it requests a selection of a plan. Do I understand correctly that we are in the Passport to Healthcare network?

Answer: Yes, Talent Trust plans are in the Passport to Healthcare network.

Additional comments:

Alz. also recently informed us that members could look for a provider online at https://azc.globalexcel.com or call +1 (800) 541 1983.

Talent Trust recommends that members call Global Excel and have them reach out to the provider. They can arrange the appointments and ensure billing is working correctly.

Question on paying for Rx in the U.S.

Answers:

  • If paying yourself, TT members have access to this pharmacy discount card http://www.rxprintacard.biz/private-label/enroll-now?account=93.
    • Another discount option is through https://costplusdrugs.com; they can deliver medications directly in the USA.
    • Find the most cost-effective option and pay for your prescription out of pocket.
    • Then send the invoice or payment receipt with a copy of the prescription, to your account representative at TT and they will put this amount to your account.  If your deductible has been met, you will then get reimbursed by TT.
  • If your Rx is $1,000 or more, please reach out to your dedicated agent / account representative at TT by email.
    • Please include the Rx name and dollar amount with any other information you may have about the requested Rx.
    • TT will work with your insurance company and they will inform you of the next steps.
    • Do realize this will take an average of 5-10 business days once you send your email to your account representative at TT.

GNI Team Q & A

Question:  What is the difference between an excess and a deductible?

Answer:  A deductible is applied once per policy year and will be applied for all bills that year. All claims that you make in a policy year will go towards meeting your deductible. An excess is applied against each medical condition. Each new condition will have its own excess that will need to be met before the policy will begin to cover expenses. In the case of a condition that spans 2 or more policy years, the excess will only be applied once.

Deductible: 1 per person per policy year / Resets each policy year / Multiple conditions in a policy year fall under a single deductible.

Excess:  1 per person per condition / Resets each new condition / Conditions that go over multiple years fall under a single excess

Here is an example of how the policy excess works: In the event that a member broke their leg, all treatment associated with that broken leg, including setting the bone, putting the leg in a cast, doctor visits, rehabilitation, any medication for pain or infection, etc., would be classed as being associated with that one condition, and so one excess would be applied. The member would pay their excess, and the insurance would pay for all other subsequent eligible* treatment. If the member subsequently had appendicitis and had to have his appendix removed, this would be classed as an unrelated condition to the broken leg, and all treatment associated with this condition would have a new excess applied to it, and once this was paid all eligible treatment would be covered by the policy**.

* as defined in the policy legal wording

** Note, treatment in the USA may incur an additional 20% co-insurance.

GNI Team Tidbits

Question: Will my pregnancy benefits cover a caesarian section and an evacuation to the nearest capable hospital if that is prescribed?

Answer: Yes, an emergency caesarian section is covered, as is evacuation to the nearest capable hospital, in the event of appropriate medical treatment not being available where you are.

For free Preventative benefits, have your exams, tests, and labwork done either overseas or in the US. If out of network in the US, these will be subject to the deductible and co-insurance, likely meaning you will pay for everything.
