Kirk Thompson
International Insurance Advisor
I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. But even though I am desert rat by nature, I love being in the woods, on the beach and anywhere that gives me another view of this amazing world. I received a BA in Management from the University of Phoenix while working in the broadcast industry as a coordinator, administrator, scheduler and technician for 16 years. I started playing volleyball in college and later became both a school and a club coach, and was certified by USA Volleyball. In my youth, I participated in all forms of theatre including singing, dancing, choreography, writing and directing, and I still sing in a professional chorale located here in the Valley, and occasionally at church. I’ve been married for over 30 years, and I have two adult daughters. My wife and I love watching K-dramas, going to Disneyland and relaxing on the beach.
Questions For Kirk
1. What experiences and skills do you bring to the clients of Good Neighbor, and how does it help non-profits, charities and individual travelers?
I spent eight years working auto claims for State Farm, so I even though medical and health insurance is a different animal, I understand how policies and coverage works. I bring a wealth of experience as an administrator and coordinator of information, plus my time as a coach and a classroom teacher, so I am able to explain and illustrate how insurance policies are structured and how to use them.
2. What does “Good Neighbor Insurance” mean to you?
A good neighbor is ready to help you at home when you need it, and to look after your home when you are not there. In the same way, Good Neighbor Insurance is here to help you figure out how to protect your home, and to make sure that you and those you care about who are traveling away from home are protected.
3. Where have you traveled to/lived? What did you like about it, and what has it taught you?
Although I have lived in Arizona my whole life, I have traveled from California beaches to Long Island, and from the boundary waters of Minnesota to the NASA launch pads in Florida. I’ve also traveled to Puerto Rico, Mexico, Aruba and Senegal, West Africa. I have seen that there is great beauty, amazing sights and good people everywhere you go. And that makes me eager to see more of this world, and to meet the people who live here.
4. Your Bucket List: what are three places you would like to go, or things you would like to do?
My wife and I are making plans to travel to South Korea, plus another trip to Senegal to visit friends who live there. After that, we would love to take a river cruise in Europe, go snorkeling in the Philippines, and take a food tour of Singapore…or a food tour of pretty much anyplace, actually.
