Long-Term Supplemental Plans

Long-Term Supplemental Plans

Offering supplemental health insurance plans and products to protect you, your family, and your finances.

Good Neighbor Insurance is a comprehensive broker for those living abroad far from home. We offer supplemental health insurance plans and products to protect you, your family and your finances. International medical insurance and nationalized healthcare alone does not cover every emergency. It does not fit every need.

For example: Did you know that your domestic life insurance policy will probably not cover you if living abroad and something terrible were to happen to you?

We offer the following international supplemental health insurance plans and products to keep you safe, and free of liability/risk. Good Neighbor Insurance is known as one of the best, most comprehensive, international insurance brokerages. We serve expatriates living outside their home country, serving or doing missionary work, or on extended overseas assignments.

Products such as:
Emergency Evacuation Only memberships
Kidnap and Ransom
Crisis Response
War and Terror
International Term Life Insurance and AD&D
Long term disability
As well as policies for groups and organizations with staff on assignment overseas.

Who should consider international supplemental insurance plans for expatriates

Who international supplemental plans are good for?

Those who have international health insurance but their policy is lacking a particular benefit. They do not wish to switch due to price. Maybe it is provided by an employer.

Those who live overseas and are on a nationalized healthcare plan.

Those on a medical “share plan” that are missing emergency medical evacuation benefits.

Those who only need emergency evacuation benefits to get back to their own country.

Those who require additional security or high risk benefits: Kidnap and Ransom, Crisis Response, etc..

Organizations that might require a liability policy for a staff member assigned overseas for a time.

Organizations that might want to protect a staff member or two with additional individual benefits while they work abroad.

A word about international term life insurance

You may want to consider international term-life insurance as part of your international health plan. This is because stand-alone international term life plans have become difficult to find. It is also because domestic life insurance will often not pay your beneficiaries if you are living overseas for an extended period of time.

An alternative you may want to consider would be an international AD&D (or international accidental death and dismemberment) plan. However, death by illness is not covered under international AD&D plans. It is only covered on term-life policies and under international health plans that include an international term life benefit.

About Kidnap and Ransom

Surprisingly, Express Kidnap and Kidnap/Ransom are becoming more and more common in a number of nations. This includes the abduction of children for ransom in countries such as Mexico, India, the Philippines, Columbia, Brazil, Russia and the Caucasus, Kenya, Nigeria, and Honduras. Unfortunately, police detentions and unlawful detention by security forces or government agencies is also becoming more and more common for foreign citizens living abroad.

Kidnap and ransom can take many different forms from political, to sexual assault, to theft, to ideological reasons, to protest against either the host nation, or to protest the actions of your nation/government. It is estimated that kidnappers are paid $1.5 billion in ransom payments every year. In Mexico alone (the number-one country for kidnappings), ransom adds up to a $50 million per year industry. And these numbers are based on statistics from the 20% of kidnapping that are reported to authorities.

Consider what you need/what risks you face. Kidnap and Ransom policies can be expensive and you may find that a crisis response/crisis management plan may be adequate. You may also have some basic crisis response/ felonious assault and or terrorism benefits included in your international health insurance policy.

Even if you think you have found the right plan, it is always good to get confirmation.

Our experienced staff does not mind you asking “Why” we are recommending one plan over another. Sometimes, we’ll recommend one plan over another due to us hearing so often about their great customer service and support.
