Have you ever dreamed about living aboard a yacht or sailboat? Feeling the sea breeze every day is a reality for these incredible nomad influencers.
While many of us don’t have the freedom to live on a boat, there are families that sail full-time. They come from all walks of life and live in many different places. Today we’re going to feature five of these amazing nomad families as we dive into nomad life on water.
Let’s dive in!
1. Sailing FollowtheBoat
This sailing couple hailing from Great Britain began their journey over 10 years ago sailing the ocean. In their unique no-holds-barred style they show everything. From the amazing sights to the scary storms and dirty work this couple shows the true life on water. While it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, they certainly keep it real. In their own words:
“We are Jamie and Liz, two Brits #sailing the wrong way round the world since 2006, who believe everyone should be able to watch an honest story without fakery, titillation or sensationalism. You see what we see and share our experiences (including the bad stuff). Cruising’s not all “party, party” and our viewers know this.
We cover everything about sailing around the world from full-on sailing to ‘How-to’s”, #sailboat maintenance and #travel destinations. Let’s face it, no-one watches us for the T&A… 😉
If we make you laugh, teach you something new or inspire you in some way, we’ll be happy as clams at high water.”

This wholesome channel features a family of five exploring the Pacific and South America. They live aboard with three young children on their catamaran. The challenges and excitement show new destinations and learning experiences through rough waters and calm seas.
“We are a family of five sailing around the world on our “dream boat,” a performance catamaran named “Archer.” Ten years ago, before kids, we sailed a Lagoon 380 named “Honeymoon” halfway around the world from the East Coast of the US to Australia. Along the way we shared our experiences with family and friends via YouTube, and by happenstance created the first “sailing channel.” But more than anything, we realized what an incredible experience that first trip was and that someday we wanted to do it again, only this time with our kids.
We want to share with them the importance of taking time to be with family. To show them a world outside of the one they grew up in. We want them to appreciate how lucky we are to experience (and to care for) the natural beauty of this world. But mostly we want to spend time with our kids during these formative years and create lasting memories as a family. That’s why we are “The Sailing Family.”

4. SailOceans
This amazing Polish family traded in their land to live their dream of a nomad lifestyle on the ocean. Together with their children, they sail all around the world featuring destinations like Martinique and the Caribbean. Documenting all kinds of adventures likescuba diving to save coral reefs it’s hard not to watch this channel!
“Welcome! We are a Polish family (Ania, Bartek, Kuba and Julian) traveling the world and sailing across oceans on our floating home, a 15 meter trimaran, as a way of promoting alternative way of life off the grid. In 2014 we managed to materialize our dreams and traded a land based home in Poland for a permanent life on the ocean aboard our dearest new home – sailboat “Poly”.
For us sailing is a way of free life in sync and harmony with nature and each other. It’s a way of experiencing life, people, and places, entirely on our own terms. For many years it was just a dream, but we followed it and it came true. We are here and now, no longer chasing the dream.
Follow us to see all the amazing, interesting, crazy, scary, and funny people, places and situations that we experience and learn from.
Welcome to our family life unplugged.
Ania, Bartek, Kuba and Julian”

5. Mothership Adrift
This sailing family has a truly unique perspective documenting their journeys around the world. Their most recent adventure was how they crossed the Atlantic Ocean. They dive deep into the day-to-day life on water documenting they’ve adapted family life to their sailboat.
“We’re a UK family who have saved over many years to live the dream of travelling the world with our kids. We sold our belongings, closed our business and rented our house to buy a 20 year old Amel sailboat – same model as SV Delos!
Our dream of cruising and exploring the world’s oceans is matched with a desire to live a more off-grid and sustainable lifestyle. A background as RYA instructors, flotilla skippers and RNLI crew only partly prepared us for the challenges of a live-aboard life!
From buying a boat to homeschooling the kids, from cooking on a budget to making money while we travel, from sailboat maintenance to visiting amazing places – join our journey and share in our world adventure, as well as the challenges of family life, through our series of video blogs.
If you want to do it – Do It!”
