“I never have a major medical concern when I travel overseas” is what I hear every-so-often from our guests at Good Neighbor Insurance. And for sure that may be the case for most. But what about those who do have medical conditions while they are traveling outside their home country? How will they pay for their medical bills?
Yes, that is correct. Medical expenses in most countries outside the U.S. are not that high in cost. But do you know what does cost an arm and a leg? Medical evacuation or also called medical transportation. All of our travel medical and long term career international plans have evacuation cover. What is this you may ask? If you need medical care to be transported from one medical facility to another then this benefit is for you.
How much does an average evacuation cost? Between 20,000USD to 40,000USD but it can go higher. We just had an evacuation take place for one of our guests from Asia to another Asian country and guess what? That evacuation cost right around 65,000USD. Yes, that is correct. I did not write that number incorrectly! Now ask me another question. How much of that 65,000USD did our guest have to pay for that evacuation benefit, besides the annual premium? Nothing! Yes, I also said that correctly. Not one single penny! All evacuation benefits with Good Neighbor Insurance cost nothing if you need to use this benefit. Pretty sweet! Right?
So what is the moral of this article? We hope you never have to use your medical travel insurance. But if you do isn’t it better to take your travel medical insurance card out instead of your Visa credit card when you need it for your overseas medical care? I know I do.
Peace of mind! Yes, that is what we provide to our guests. I know that you may never use your international insurance ever in your life time. You are the blessed ones! But if you do need medical care overseas let’s keep your Visa credit card in your wallet and just hand over your international medical insurance card and passport to the lady requesting it at the hospital.
