Additional information on Patriot international group travel insurance
Why we like this international group travel insurance plan:
The Patriot Group Travel international health and travel insurance is one of the best short-trip health plans for international groups or team insurance plans for short term teams, organizations needing group travel insurance, for groups of international travelers, and for missionary insurance. This plan has a $10,000 personal liability benefit for those organizations that require liability coverage in addition to medical coverage. Some of the organizations that utilize this coverage are NGOs, non-profit organizations, groups of people going on a musical tour or sports camp, and missionary organizations. As you can see above, this comprehensive plan has many benefits and it is very easy to secure this health insurance, even for a large team that may not all be traveling on the same dates or to the same location. The applications are completed online. You could either input each individual’s information one at a time, or you can upload an Excel .CSV spreadsheet with everyone’s information included. A good time frame to expect is about a 10 or 15 minute application if you use a spreadsheet. Please note, it is good to set aside time to go through the whole application, as the screen can time-out after too long. For those under age 30 the daily rates are phenomenal compared to other travel insurance plans, even though the rates in general (regardless of age) are pretty good. (As a side note, for short-term team insurance for travelers over age 30, the Outreach Group Travel is a great alternative!)
The insurance company, IMG, has an amazing emergency medical team on staff to help, if and when severe situations occur. Some of our team have actually visited their headquarters and learned how their emergency procedures work. They were quite impressed!
Benefits of the Patriot Group Travel:
Like all of our other excellent international travel insurance plans, this plan provides coverage for new injuries and new illnesses, Medical Evacuation and repatriation, Return of Mortal Remains, and more. Some of the unique additional benefits of this plan are Natural Disaster insurance, Terrorism insurance, Political Evacuation insurance, and Trip Interruption. (Regarding the Terrorism and Political Evacuation coverage — it is not available in countries that have a current travel advisory in effect on or within six months prior to your arrival in country.) If there should be a natural disaster, the plan will pay $100 a day for up to five days if you are displaced from planned, paid accommodations due to an evacuation following a natural disaster, or from a forecasted natural disaster. Trip Interruption insurance is coverage to go back to your home country if your family member unexpectedly perishes, or your principal residence is destroyed (by fire or natural disaster) or was broke-in to.
One important essential area of coverage is international Medical Evacuation insurance, which is covered up to $1,000,000. Medical evacuations occur when you have a medical necessity that cannot be provided for locally and could result in loss of life or limb. If a medical evacuation is medically necessary, you or someone with you must call and inform the insurance company. The company work with you and the medical personnel on the ground to recommend a course of action and get you to the nearest adequate place for treatment. (Medical evacuations are designed to save your life and get you stabilized so they take you to the nearest fully capable medical facility, not necessarily back home.) Decisions are be made by the insurance company, in consultation with both the doctors and patient’s needs. After a medical evacuation, you have the additional benefit to be taken back to your home country or back to the travel destination.
Generally, claims are paid on a reimbursement basis. In this case, you pay out of pocket for the medical expenses, submit the claim, and the company will reimburse you for all eligible expenses after your deductible. If there are international contracted providers, or “in-network” providers, they may allow direct billing with the insurance company. This is one reason it is always good to call your insurance provider first to check. Claims need to be submitted within 90 days of service. Please allow 30 business days for claims to be processed though it can take longer if they need additional medical records. You will need to obtain receipts and medical records at the time you receive treatment in order to be reimbursed.
