Most of us have traveled pretty extensively and have lived overseas ourselves and have gained valuable experience over the years. That experience is reflected in these resources and answers to your questions. Another site that you may find helpful depending on where you are headed is the Thorntree Travel Forum, a discussion forum set up by Lonely Planet. They have been really helpful in the past. Note that the forums are made up of travelers contributions, and some may not be accurate (esp. regarding some aspects of international insurance), or you may not agree with. Still, we are grateful for them.
