Jeff Gulleson worked for over 30 years at a NGO in Indonesia. In 1997 he established Good Neighbor Insurance. His son Doug is a full partner. The GNI office is in Gilbert, Arizona, 20 miles east of Phoenix.

Jeff Gulleson

Jeff Gulleson was born and raised in Satsop, Washington. He graduated from PBC (PBI) in Alberta, Canada, in 1963 with a BRE. He then worked with an NGO in Indonesia for 30 years in training and leadership, as well as writing several books in Indonesian on communication skills. Upon moving to Arizona in 1997, he founded Good Neighbor Insurance, Inc. GNI provides international travel and health insurance for thousands of short-term travelers and international workers, as well as providing group insurance for over 70 international companies and organizations. GNI also offers insurance to residents of Arizona and all the 50 states, including individuals, groups, and Medicare plans. Jeff also is a member of a team from Arizona that founded a NGO which helps to encourage others in enriching the lives of Indonesians via various projects throughout Indonesia.

Doug Gulleson

Doug Gulleson, MBA, RHU. Doug was born and raised in Indonesia as a MK, where he graduated in 1986 from the Jakarta International School. After serving in the U.S. Army, Doug moved to Arizona in 1997 where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business at Western International University (WIU) in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1999. Doug started working full time with Good Neighbor Insurance, Inc. in 2000, and is now one of the principles. In 2002, he graduated with a MBA in International Business from WIU. He continues to educate himself in the health and life insurance markets by taking continuing education courses. Doug is also involved in an overseas NGO. Doug’s major hobby is scuba diving and underwater photography. He has dived in countries such as Indonesia (Bali and Northern Sulawesi), Thailand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and in the Caribbean.

Nelma Maxwell

Nelma Maxwell was born and raised in Elma, Washington. She and her family also lived in many states including Nevada, California, Colorado, Texas, and Nebraska. She most enjoyed living in Nebraska. She has three grown children and one grandchild. Nelma obtained an A.A. degree in Business Administration from Metropolitan Technical College in Omaha, Nebraska, and later graduated from Bellevue College in Nebraska with a B.A. in Business Administration. She later moved to Nevada where she worked in the service industry for many years, and then moved back to Washington where she owned and operated a distributing company for several years. She changed careers in 2004 when she decided to move to Arizona and began working with Good Neighbor Insurance, where she is now a licensed domestic and international insurance agent. Nelma holds the position of Short-term Team Coordinator for GNI, serving short-term team members who travel throughout the world.

Pei Medill

Pei Medill was born in Taiwan and immigrated to the USA at the age of thirteen, and Mandarin Chinese is her native language. Pei graduated from Messiah College in Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Business Administration. Pei has three children, one in college and two in high school. She and her family served in an NGO in Central Asia for many years, and has been back in the USA for several years. Pei is an insurance agent who has license authority in Accident and Health. She understands the needs of overseas workers, and is very concerned with helping them handle their health insurance matters.

Steve Pinhero

Steve Pinhero was born and raised in Southern California. Steve joined Good Neighbor Insurance in 2003 as a licensed domestic and international insurance agent after working primarily in the technology sector since 1984. Prior to moving to Arizona, Steve was a Project Manager for Qualcomm, Inc., in San Diego, California, a leader in the telecommunications industry. In his spare time Steve enjoys basketball (namely the Lakers and Suns), shooting (guns), and his wonder-dog, Kobe.

Karen Bellas

Karen Bellas was born and raised in Columbus, OH. She graduated from Miami University with a BA in International Studies. Her love for travel took her to Turkey where while studying Turkish met her husband, an English teacher there. After marriage they returned to Turkey where we lead an NGO team for 7 years part of the time doing relief work with the Kurds after the first Gulf War. After a brief time in the U.S., they went back overseas to Bulgaria in 1998 where they did micro-enterprise development with YWAM among the Millet (Turkish speaking gypsies). In 2003, they went back to Turkey with YWAM for community outreach. They returned to the U.S. for their 2 children to attend high school.

Trish Ordish

Trish Ordish was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. She served as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy from 1986 to 1992. After 1992 she devoted her time to her family, and followed her husband as he continued to serve in the Armed Forces. During this time, she was an Early Childhood Development teacher. Trish and her family moved to the Phoenix area in 2002, where she worked in real estate while she and her husband pursued getting their Foster Parent license. Trish joined the Good Neighbor Insurance team in May 2006.

Sharon Mahoe

Sharon Mahoe grew up in as a MK where her family served in Thailand, and along with her oldest brother boarded in a MK children’s home in Canada while the rest of the family was overseas. Sharon began employment with Good Neighbor Insurance, Inc., in late 2001, having moved from Southern California to Arizona to care for her ailing mother. In the past, she has enjoyed working in a variety of jobs: with students and faculty on a university campus; in a surgery department of a university teaching hospital; and a temporary nursing service. She is a published author in a women’s devotional book. She enjoys writing, reading, singing, painting, theater and travel. In the early 1990s, she accompanied other members of her large choir to Europe where they performed in Leipzig, Budapest, and Prague--among other cities. She appreciates the opportunity to serve the clients of GNI, as it offers her the opportunity to hear about their trips and their lives overseas, working perfectly with her background and love of our big world and its beauties.

Fran Love

Fran Love has lived half her life overseas. First she lived in Bali, Indonesia, where she grew up; then in Malaysia where she went to boarding school; next in Java, Indonesia, where she worked with her husband as English teachers; and finally in England as part of the international team of Frontiers. She has her B.A. from Westmont College and her M.A. from Hope International University--both in California. She has three grown daughters who, like her, enjoy returning to Indonesia to visit family and friends and to eat spicy rice meals. Her hobbies are reading, riding her bike, public speaking, and cooking. Fran works in the marketing department at GNI. She is a published author, and uses her writing ability to help Good Neighbor Insurance place articles about insurance on the internet.
