Does my domestic life insurance policy cover me while I live or travel overseas?
Many policies don’t. To protect your loved ones, you will need to get an international travel life insurance plan or an Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) plan.
Can I buy a stand-alone term life insurance policy?
Many insurance carriers only offer term-life benefits as an add-on to their health insurance policy because they no longer offer a stand-alone international term life insurance plan without medical benefits. We currently do not offer a stand-alone term-life insurance policy but that could change in the future.
What if I’m a healthy person traveling to a high-risk country or participating in a high-risk sport?
You could purchase a stand-alone international AD&D plan or AD&D add-on plan to cover accidental death in high-risk nations or during extreme sports. Be aware, however, that AD&D policies don’t cover death by illness. Only term-life policies provide coverage if your death is due to illness.
What if my overseas stay is for less than a year?
We offer medical insurance with AD&D benefits as part of a short-term travel plan for both U.S. and non-U.S. travelers for up to 364 days.
