BUPA Travel Insurance for Pre Existing Conditions

For non-U.S. travelers looking for complete coverage

Why we like it:

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND the BUPA single trip travel insurance pre existing conditions because it is complete coverage (usually 100%) without copays or deductibles and has an unlimited medical benefit (Unlike some plans, where you select $250,000 or $500,000 as a maximum medical benefit and pay for that higher max coverage). This plan has an available waiver form for pre-existing conditions and covers acute onset of pre-existing conditions the same as any other medical claim.

It is available for world travelers from any nation, excluding the USA and Canada, covers most recreational and adventure sports without an additional rider, and has the option to add trip cancellation to protect non-refundable deposits.
We recommend all travelers select the “non-medical travel benefits” option when purchasing this insurance.

Good for:

  • Those wanting travel insurance pre existing conditions
  • Non-U.S. / Non-Canadian travelers up to age 69
  • Does not require you to have domestic health insurance
  • Unlimited medical coverage with no deductible!

Regarding Pre-existing Conditions

In some instances a chronic and/or pre-existing condition is covered by this travel insurance. We recommend that you send an up-to-date medical report to Bupa Global Travel and their in-house medical consultants will evaluate if your particular condition is covered.

This application for coverage of pre-existing conditions is available to download from their quote/buy online page, or you can request a copy by calling us or emailing info@gninsurance.com.

If you suffer from a chronic disease or pre-existing condition you have to apply for cover of pre-existing conditions and make sure you are covered. BUPA’s medical consultants will then evaluate your case and provide you with an answer within a few days.

Note: The insurance shall not cover expenses for treatment of pre-existing, chronic or recurrent illnesses and disorders if the insured:
1) has been hospitalised within six months prior to commencement of the trip or, if Annual Travel has been chosen, prior to each departure from the country of permanent residence,
2) has been treated by a physician (routine check-ups excepted) within six months prior to commencement of the trip or, if Annual Travel has been chosen, prior to each departure from the country of permanent residence, 3) has had a change of medication within six months prior to commencement of the trip or, if Annual Travel has been chosen, prior to each departure from the country of permanent residence,
4) has not received medical treatment, has refused or given up treatment, even though the insured should know that the illness/disorder ought to be treated, or has deteriorated,
5) has reached a state where any attempt of further treatment has been abandoned, or has been refused treatment,
6) is waiting to receive treatment, or has been referred to another place of treatment,
7) has omitted to go to pre-arranged controls. The insurance does not cover expenses for control, treatment and medicines in connection with stabilisation and regulation of a pre-existing, chronic or recurrent illness/disorder. The insurance does not cover a need for treatment which was expected before departure.

This benefit is usually restricted to what is called sudden or acute onset of a pre-existing medical condition. It specifies that the condition has not occurred in the last six months and according to your doctor, is relatively stable and safe to travel.
