Outreach International medical insurance plan is one of the most excellent international short term mission trip insurance plans we know of. This plan is great for short term mission trips outside of one’s home country, such as the trip you are taking! In fact, many missionary individuals and families secure this coverage while they are on their travels. It is designed to cover brief trips from 5 days to longer adventures up to 12 months. Furthermore, one can secure this coverage for at least 30 days and extend it up to 24 months. Even some of those we serve who reside full-time choose this Outreach coverage over and over again. This is the best most cost-effective international travel insurance option for those looking for international short term mission trip medical insurance.
The Outreach International short term medical insurance will provide coverage for medical expenses, Medical Evacuation, Return of Mortal Remains, Accidental Death and Dismemberment [AD&D], and more. For the medical expenses, you can choose maximum coverage limits from $50,000 to $1,000,000. Also included in this plan, you have other provisions with coverage limits up to $500,000 for Medical Evacuation, $50,000 for Return of Mortal Remains, $25,000 for AD&D, and other benefits with their own coverage limits also. Some of the others are: Emergency Reunion, Trip Interruption, Political Evacuation, and Terrorism coverage.
Pre-existing conditions: Pre-existing conditions are a major area that I want to explain. A pre-existing condition is a medical condition that currently exists or has existed prior to the effective date of the Outreach International insurance policy. Typically, pre-existing conditions are excluded from coverage. However, the Outreach International may provide coverage you have a Sudden and Unexpected Recurrence of a Pre-existing Condition. Some of the qualifications for this benefit: the condition must be stable for at least 30 days without treatment prior to the effective date, and you are not expecting or intending to obtain treatment. The full definition is available on the certificate of insurance, or the policy wording, which is available upon request. There are differing amounts of coverage for this benefit. If you have a U.S. primary health plan that covers your pre-existing condition throughout your Outreach policy term, you have coverage up to the maximum limit. For U.S. citizens, if you do not have primary health coverage the limit is $20,000. For non-U.S. citizens the amount is $50,000. If you are over age 65 regardless of citizenship, the limit is $2,500. Medical evacuation is limited to $25,000 for this provision.
Additional benefits: This solid plan has additional benefits included that have their own limits of coverage. Many people aren’t aware of this. On the Outreach International, the additional benefits are separate from the overall Maximum Limit of the policy. On top of this, there is also a distinguished provision called a Benefits Period. Here is an example situation and how the insurance would work with these in mind:
* You secured a policy with a $0 deductible and a maximum limit of $1,000,000.
* After a car accident, a medical evacuation is needed so the company transports you. Overall the medical evacuation costs $50,000. The company will draw from the $500,000 medical evacuation maximum limit for the international medical evacuation.
* Once you are there, the medical bill is $25,000. This will be paid out of your overall eligible medical expenses limit of $1,000,000.
* Let’s say you then need follow up care for that injury, but your policy ended one month ago. The benefit period will provide that additional coverage! On this unique provision, you may go to any hospital, even in the U.S., and receive the additional medical care you need. With the Benefit Period, you have up to six months after your policy ends for any covered illness or injury, granted that you have first obtained treatment outside of your home country. The medical expenses will be covered according to your overall maximum limit of $1,000,000.
Medical Evacuation: In my experience, international Medical Evacuation insurance is one of the most requested and essential parts of having international travel medical insurance. As stated before, the Outreach International plan has up to $500,000 of medical evacuation coverage. Medical Evacuation insurance is indeed almost a necessity for every international traveler. You may have a great hospital in the area you are traveling in, however that hospital may not be able to appropriately treat the specific medical condition that you have. The medical evacuation insurance will take you to the nearest place to get you taken care of. In some cases, people have coverage outside the U.S. through their U.S. insurance. Although the U.S. plans usually don’t have medical evacuation. I definitely recommend obtaining this Outreach International medical insurance, even if you only need the medical evacuation portion; you can go with the lowest amount of medical coverage, the highest deductible, get the lowest premium and have the $500,000 of medical evacuation coverage!
A couple of our key team members actually traveled to this company’s headquarters last year. They had the honor to learn how and see the place where they handle medical evacuations and emergencies. It is amazing! The company’s excellent team is trained, prepared, and attentive 24/7 to make sure their clients are taken care of, which is why we work with them. This is another reason why not just myself, but all of us here at Good Neighbor Insurance have such a confidence with the Outreach International travel medical insurance – We share the mission to protect international travels who are serving the Lord in His harvest.
The reason that I recommend this plan is because it provides exceptional international travel medical insurance at a relatively low premium. In fact, I don’t know of a plan with equal benefits for a lower premium than the Outreach International travel medical insurance. For me, this is a valuable plan that I recommend for my own family. This international protection is a great investment for a short term mission trip insurance.
