Outreach International short term medical insurance is one of the best, most cost-effective international travel health insurance plans we recommend. This is an all-around protective plan that is designed to cover your whole family as you enjoy your international travels! This will provide international health insurance from five days up to 12 months. If you secure at least 30 days of coverage, you can extend your plan up to 24 months. Please note, this plan does not cover you inside your country of citizenship. The strong benefits of this short term travel insurance give a reassurance that regardless of where you travel, you will have great international medical insurance.
If your family is going to vacation in the Philippines, you may spend some time at the beach playing volleyball and surfing. You may add an Adventure Sports rider for coverage while surfing or doing other extreme sports. Meanwhile, the Outreach without anything added offers protections for other sicknesses and injuries. Basic sports are covered without the sports rider, which would be recreational sports such as a pick-up game of volleyball. Aside from the sports, if one were to get hit by a motorcycle or someone were to get a sickness from mosquito bites, this coverage will provide reimbursement for expenses or even medical evacuation to the nearest hospital to provide you the adequate care that you need!
The Outreach International covers nearly every kind of new injury or new illness, with the exception of pre-existing conditions and the general exclusions that most insurance carriers do. There are five limits for medical expenses, from $50,000 to $2,000,000; there are six choices of deductibles from $0 to $2,500. The higher your deducible is, the lower the premium is; although if anything happens, the deductible is what you will be responsible for. One of the many excellent things about this plan is that the additional benefits included have their own coverage limits, which is not attached to the overall maximum limit. This means that expenses during a medical evacuation would not be constituted to your overall medical expense limit ($50k to $2million). Some of these additional benefits are Medical Evacuation insurance, Return of Mortal Remains insurance, Emergency Reunion, Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance (AD&D), and Trip Interruption insurance. The Political Evacuation and Terrorism insurance is not available in countries that have a current travel warning in effect on or within six months prior to your arrival in country.
Medical evacuation: The international Medical Evacuation insurance is a very important coverage to have while you all are traveling the world. A medical evacuation occurs when someone has a medical necessity that cannot be treated locally. In this event, you must contact the insurance company, who will communicate with the medical personnel on the ground to address the situation. A medical evacuation will take the patient to the nearest adequate medical facility for sufficient treatment. This evacuation will happen when there is potential for either the loss of life of limb. The reason this is so important is because medical evacuations can cost a lot of money. Even if you are in an area with a great hospital, that medical facility may not have the capability to treat a specific condition that may happen. This is exceptional emergency coverage to have for you family while you are traveling outside your home country. There is also an Evacuation Plus rider that you can add. This will provide you with some coverage in case you want to have an evacuation for a non-life-threatening medical evacuation, or an evacuation because of a natural disaster. The coverage is limited and separate from the policy’s medical evacuation provision.
Pre-existing conditions: The Outreach international plan is not designed to cover pre-existing conditions. In most cases, pre-existing conditions are outright excluded. Though, there is potential coverage for Sudden and Unexpected Recurrence of Pre-existing Condition(s). Basically, if you have a pre-existing condition that has been stable for at least 30 days without treatment prior to the effective date, and you are not expecting nor intending to obtain treatment for it, there may be some coverage for you. There are other requirements in the policy certificate, which is available on request. Here is how it works: * For U.S. citizens: If you have a U.S. primary insurance plan that covers your pre-existing condition, you have coverage for that condition up to the maximum limit. If you do not have primary insurance, you have up to $20,000 total coverage. * For non-U.S. citizens, regardless of any primary insurance, you have up to $50,000 total coverage. * Over age 65, all across the board is $2,500 maximum. * For medical evacuations for this provision, the limit is $25,000 regardless of citizenship.
Claims: If you should have any claims, please note that you will most likely pay out of pocket, submit the claim, and the company will reimburse you for all eligible expenses after the deductible. The company does have contracted in-network providers around the world. You can do a search online to see if there are any in your area. These contracted providers may have the capability of direct-billing. Otherwise, it will be the reimbursement of eligible expenses.
Overall, the Outreach International travel medical insurance is one of my favorite plans to recommend. It is dependable, comprehensive short term family vacation insurance, and has the best value of international short term medical insurance. Some of our team members visited the company’s headquarters. They experienced firsthand what the company’s emergency response team is like; they were impressed! I definitely recommend this valuable plan for my own family, as I do for yours.
